Estas máscaras, son elaboradas por artesanos yucatecos quienes de generación a generación han transmitido la tradición. Para el proceso de elaboración, primero se corta una pieza de madera en forma triangular, después se dibuja la imagen que se trabajará, y posteriormente se comienza a tallar la máscara con pequeñas cuchillas. Poco a poco, lo que una vez fue un simple tronco, empieza a cobrar vida, y se transforma en alguna representación de la cultura maya, o de los Dioses.
La creación de estas máscaras puede tardar de tres a cuatro días, es un trabajo hecho a mano por completo, ninguna es igual a otra, hence the importance that we learn to appreciate the effort and creativity of our people,es.
